Collection day…..Graham collected his 1958 original Rag top RHD semaphor model beetle on Friday, needless to say he was like a kid in a sweetshop.
Next job on the ‘58 beetle is to fit the bonnet seal. The people who restored the car forgot to re-drill the holes in the top corners for the rubber seal to sit in so the bonnet has to come off for us to put these back in.
First Job, remove the original 30HP engine to sort out a few small bits missed by the previous people to work on this beautiful bug!!
The beautiful 1958 RHD semaphore beetle arrives with us. Following a recent restoration elsewhere our job is to finish the assembly and bring it up to MOT standard.
Tom’s Bug arrives for a little tickle with the lowering stick!! Coming up is a 3” narrowed adjustable beam with drop spindles, a 1 spline drop on the back and a new set of rims!!
the first Volkswagen concept car on show at the Volkswagen museum in Wolfsburg; in the back the first production model to compare. eg the concept didn’t have running boards or a rear window, and it featured “suicide doors”, which open forward. the name “beetle” came much later, so I won’t use it…
